Rufford Mews

Kings Cross, North London

When an architect approached us for advice on designing a kitchen he and his wife wanted to build we were able to guide them through some of the finer detailing and more practical issues. This lead to working-up the project together and to then constructing and installing the kitchen with the clients remaining involved through the whole process. The concrete worktop forms a strong composition sitting in contrast to the softer Spruce timber cabinetry and pantry unit. The doors and open shelves are made from a three-ply spruce board which was then treated with a white stain. The carcasses are varnished birch plywood and the kickboards, soffit panels and rails are all in a spray-finish neutral grey. The backsplash is tiled using matt hand-made Italian tiles which feature a paper fold design.
